This insanely popular application has been an addiction for many iPhone users, and Android owners have been eagerly anticipating the time when they could get in on this hot, trendy application as well. It is not shocking that this application was downloaded about a million times in under 24 hours.
The moment Android users have been waiting for is finally here. This hot app, once exclusive to iOS, is now available in the Google Play Store. A fun, free photography app, Instagram is an amazing application that makes taking and sharing snapshots with your Android more fun than ever.

Now available for free on the Google Play Store, Android is a feature-rich photo application. With many filters and borders, it can make the photos taken with a smartphone and the Lux enhancement, for example, more detail-rich and vibrant, bringing out elements that would not have been seen otherwise.
Instagram is about more than taking photos and applying filters and effects, however. This application lets Android users take their photos social, letting them share with other Instagram users and posting easily to social sites like Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, and Tumblr. Not only can users admire their photos, but with these features, their friends can too.

The application is absolutely addicting once you get started. It is easy to see why this application has been so popular for iPhone users. While great for iOS, Instagram seems to have become one of the best Android apps I have had the pleasure to try.
With Instagram on my phone, everything I see is a potential photo opportunity. Not only is it more enticing to snap photos of my friends when out and about town, almost everything I see turns into a subject for an impromptu photoshoot. I spent a half an hour snapping pictures of my cat, and I now have photos on my phone of dead branches, my neighbor’s car, and some debris on the sidewalk. Because of the great effects and filters, all of these photos look either like retro magic or an art piece.
Using the Application
The application is similar to the iPhone app in look and feel. It isn’t identical to the iPhone app, however, as there are some differences; users won’t notice or think that anything is missing unless they have used the iPhone application before. The ways I which the application could be better mainly revolve around the things the iPhone app has and this app lacks, like tilt-shift, a feature that can add depth.
All in all, the app is simple to use. It can utilize a flash and both a front and back facing camera, switching between the two. Cropping is easy as it is restricted to a set square.
There are many filters that you can apply to photos, and while this is something that many photo apps do, Instagram does it better than most. The simplicity of it and the variety of effects (without being overwhelming) makes it a winner.
Conclusion
Instagram is a great app; if you have an Android this free photo app is a must have for you. Not quite as great as the iPhone app, it is still pretty solid and a ton of fun. The great looking photos, sharing capabilities, and ease of use make it well worthwhile. iPhone owners enjoyed the use of this app so much that many of them are more than a little miffed that it is no longer exclusive to iOS, and while this seems silly, this should speak to what a great app Instagram really is.
