Know how to be friendly with Google Penguin Algorithm

by Sai Krishna on June 26, 2012

It used to be very easy to put up a website, add some silly content, get some back links, and have it ranking in no time flat. While there is still some truth to this, the latest Google Penguin update has have made things quite a bit more tricky these days. Perhaps, this is a good thing?

In years past, there were lots of shortcuts exposed that too many internet marketers simply couldn’t resist. This created huge problems though in terms of user experience. People come to a website to find helpful advice, and it appears many of the marketers had forgotten that notion.

Still, the same things that worked yesterday remain effective even now past the Penguin update. However, there’s a greater understanding, and concentration, on these old tools that needs to be done in order to rank the site well. This is why it’s even more important today to choose the best agency has to define these objectives even greater.

Articles have been, and still are the biggest determining factor in how Google views a site. They have advertisers to answer to as well. In the process, they want to provide the best experience possible for those looking up information through their search engines. In fact, this is where many of the problems arose in the past. Marketers knew how to game the system with heavy keyword use, and lost sight of the bigger picture. This often led to articles that were barely even legible, stuffed full of the keywords, and hardly offering anything of real value to the reader. If there’s one thing that Google hopes to change, this would be it. Following the Penguin update, there’s an even greater deal of emphasis put on the quality of the content, which should have been the objective all along.

However, back links are still worth their salt too. Here again, it’s now more about the quality of links that will determine how the site ranks. Gone are the days of blasting out links, and reaping huge rewards for it. Natural is in style, and there’s a much more methodical approach now to choosing the right links, and how to apply them. Those that don’t know how to do this should certainly be looking for the best SEO agency UK has to handle this feat. If it isn’t done right these days, the affects could be just the opposite of the goal.

Of course, using other media, web 2.0, and bookmarks are still great ways to improve rank. The things that worked before Penguin still work today. There just needs to be a new understanding for the internet marketer about putting a quality product out there all around. This can still be manufactured through the services of an SEO company, but quality is king moving forward from the Penguin algorithm.
