In recent years, smartphone screen size and resolution has increased enough to rival much larger monitors. Now you can watch live TV from a high quality stream from your Android. Long gone are the clunky “portable” black-and-white TVs. Here to stay are the apps that convert our Android device into a fully functional (and beyond) TV. There are many TV apps on the marketplace available for free download from Google Play. Here are the 5 best Android apps to turn your device into a TV.
SPB TV is a Russian-based world television apps that allows you to watch channels from all over the globe live on your Android phone for free. Boasting a line-up of over 120 channels, SPB prove its worth as one of the most comprehensive TV apps for Android. This app lets you adjust the quality of the streams you receive so that you can optimize the video speed depending on the strength of your Wi-Fi or 3G signal. SPB also offers a variety of on-demand videos for a premium if you get bored with the free channels. With the integrated TV guide, channel preview options, picture in picture, and many more features this little app is king of free TV.
Crackle is a nifty app that lets you not only watch TV but movies as well. Crackle provides free access to tons of full-length TV shows and films for Android users. This app includes the occasional commercial to pay its sponsors but it is no more intrusive than the ones on YouTube. With the newest update, users can even watch from their big screen at home via HDMI cables. It makes an excellent complement to free live streams which quality content you won’t find anywhere else for free. Crackle continues to add new TV episodes and uncut movies every month making the service better and better.
If you have a preference for CBS, which most of the live TV apps don’t offer, you should make it a priority to get the TV.com app for your Android phone. This app gives you free access to the CBS line-up of channels such as CBS, CW, and Showtime meaning you won’t have to worry about whether you paid the cable bill this month. Keep up on your favorite shows like “The Big Bang Theory”, “Two And A Half Men”, and “Dexter” wherever you and your Android go. The app has a smooth, user-friendly interface coupled with high quality video and can be an excellent way to spend your time when you have plenty of it.
The Yamgo TV is an app that broadcasts live TV from all over the world to your Android phone or tablet. Based out of India, US users may not recognize any of the programs but they are all freely available at decent quality. Yamgo TV is currently been downloaded over half a million times from Google play app store and claims to be the world’s most popular live TV app. This may be true as people just can’t seem to get enough of free TV. It would make a good time-waster for the more adventurous Android user.
TVGoo is another world streaming TV app for Android. Free to use, the app streams live television from over 40 countries across the globe. You can browse through each country first before you pick a channel from the list which makes it much easier to find what you are looking for. While this apps isn’t as crisp in video quality or full of features as some of the other TV apps, you can’t blame it for being free.

Thanks for stopping by.
Nice list! Crackle is an app I enjoy as well, so I definitely agree about that one being on this list. I haven’t tried out the others though, but I’m sure they are pretty great as well! My favorite app to use to make my phone a portable TV is actually DISH Remote Access. One of my coworkers at DISH got me a Sling Adapter as a gift a few months ago, so I’ve been using the app on my business trips to watch all of my shows from home, live or from right off my DVR, everywhere I go in the world. It’s pretty nice to have especially for a TV junkie like me when I’m half way across the country missing all of my favorite shows from home.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us bro.
